Fender Stratocaster

 American Standard Stratocaster, 2009 model.  I picked this guitar out from a large group on the rack at my local music store.  It is exceptional light weight and resonant.  I then ordered the exact pickup combination that Andy Timmons has used for years (big fan of his tone), a pair of Dimarzio Cruisers and and Seymour Duncan JB full size humbucker for the bridge.  The guitar was originally set up for standard pickups so I then bought a new SSH American Standard pickguard in parchment to install the new pickups.  I had a local amp tech do all the wiring and soldering, including adding the treble bleed circuit that Timmons uses and a paper in oil .022mfd capacitor in the tone circuit.  Again what my research showed was in Timmons' favorite Ibanez signature strat.  Prior to the Ibanez and his shredder days he was a dyed in the wool strat guy. So this is a modern pickup configuration of an early Timmons favorite set up.

So even if you're not a Timmons fan, the guitar sounds incredible the way it is.  The pickups balance really well.  Are all humbucking so they are silent and the Cruisers have a great single coil sound for all the positions that include them (1,2,3, and 4).  And what can you say about the JB?  The Jeff Beck Humbucker.  This was the pickup in his Fender Signature model prior to his shift back to the noiseless singles a few years ago (stacked humbuckers of course, just in a small form factor.)

I have too many guitar and though this was my guitar in my bedroom studio for a few months I've moved back to Les Pauls and shorter scale guitars.  What's the old ebay saw, "my loss is...." you get the idea.  I do not have the original case but it will be shipped in a quality Fender gig bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, then shipped in an oversized guitar box filled with foam popcorn.
